A Shih Tzu's Life

Visiting the AKC’s Museum of Dog (St. Louis, MO)

Three weeks ago, Mama and I went on a field trip to the American Kennel Club’s Museum of the Dog, located in St. Louis, MO.

This was a really awesome dog museum that we highly recommend any dog lovers who are in the St. Louis area visit. You can take your doggie inside with you – it’s completely dog-friendly. Admission is only $5. It was well worth the trip. Lots of interesting artwork – from paintings to photographs to sculptures. The staff is also very sweet and friendly.

Lots of things to sniff outside, so I was not in the mood to pose.

It was amazingly clean and peaceful inside. Lots of wonderful pantings to see. There also plaques beside each piece of art, describing it and the name of the artist, and the year of its creation.

Let me give you a tour . . .

(And Mama says she apologizes that the photographs are crooked. She was holding me in my baby sling, while trying to take the photo. It was rather difficult.)

Cutest Shih Tzu Painting…

Here is me in my baby sling posing for a picture.

Who is cuter? Me or the Shih Tzu Art?

We loved this Shih Tzu painting too.

If you look carefully, you can see the Chinese palace behind the Shih Tzu sisters.

Lovely paintings of Presidental Pooches too.

This oil painting was very impressive!

Three Japanese Chins living a life of comfort and luxury…

Three confused looking Pugs…

Handsome Westie, reminds me of my crush, Duncan the Westie.

Gotta love a dog with a pipe!

There were also doggie stuffed toys from years gone by!

Mama, why are the toys looking at me funny!

Of course, a dog museum must also have movie posters of doggie films!

Mama loved this manipulated photo of Golden Retrievers on a beach.

There was also a cool room that displayed the history of the St. Louis County Police K-9 Unit.

We liked that it wasn’t just German Shepherds who were police dogs, but Labradors too!

These are the dog badges of pups who served with the police force…

We thought this war poster was pretty awesome.

This was a really cool display of the dogs who have won “Best in Show” at the Westminister over the years.

Check out the sleds that Alaskan Malamutes pulled… Isn’t it neat!

Alaska Dogs

Alaskan Eskimos are pretty!

American Eskimo Art

I was very fascinated by everything I saw.

Mama hates this picture of her . . . but I am just taking all the sights.

She took the photo with one hand, since I was being held in the other!

I hope you have enjoyed this photo tour of the AKC Museum of Dog in St. Louis. I really had a fun time!

Wow,those are some mighty good photos. We do think you are cuter than the Shit Tzu painting. You are just too cute. But what fun to see all those paintings. They are terrific. Have a great week end.

Mom never knew this place existed – we will have to go there someday especially since doggies are welcome! Thanks for sharing!

Oh, it’s a wonderful museum! Thanks for spreading the word…went once several years ago when I was in St. Louis for a dog show, and am looking forward to going back again.
