Mama and I took a walk to the neighborhood park the other day. It was all very interesting to me, but I think Mama just wanted me to go out in my dress and have everyone “awww” at me.
I have a confession to make.
I hate it when my Mama leaves the house. She works at home as a freelance writer, so I get to spend a lot of time with her… But when she leaves, it makes me very sad. I stand and wait for her at the window, and look very sad. I watch her as she drives away, and I think it makes her feel guilty.
Fortunately, I do not have separation anxiety. Or at least I don’t think I do. I don’t cry or bark and annoy the neighbors. I don’t urinate or poop in the house – cuz I am mostly potty trained now … most of the time. I don’t destroy toys or chew on furniture out of distress.
Nope, I don’t make a peep… Until she comes home. (I kinda go crazy when Mama comes up. I get on my hind legs and bark and want her to pick me up. Then I run and get a stuffed toy and force her to play fetch with me for a few minutes. I get very excited.)
This is what I do instead…
I sleep and dream of the day that my Mama will come home to me. The days, minutes, hours… It all seems like a long time to me. So I sleep a lot.
And if I hear a car sound, then I run back to the window and I wag my tail and get all excited.
I may be a spoiled pooch, but I don’t have emotional disorders like other dogs.
I know my Mama loves me, and I know she will come home.
Do you remember a few days ago when I posted that picture of me snuggling underneath Mama’s desk? And you also got to see that super cutes photo of me when I was a puppy?
So… Here is another Blast from the Past that you might enjoy.
Below is a photo of me when I was a tiny puppy – probably around 7 weeks old – cuddling up next to my Siamese brother, Mr. Pumpkin. I told you we’ve always been friends. He was a very nice, warm body for me to sleep next to… See how teeny-tiny I was?
Mama says it’s too bad that puppies grow up, but she is glad that I’m an adult now. She was always so worried about tripping over me when I was a puppy – since I loved to just walk around her feet, and I was so tiny that if she fell and squished me, I would have probably died.
And now Mr. Pumpkin and I are the same size…
(Sorry about the red eye dealio. Mama couldn’t figure how to get it out of the photo…)
Since it’s winter time now and finally get cold here in Tennessee/Alabama, Mama has taken our old comforter and she uses it to cover her legs while she writes.
Me – I have another use for it, I like to take all my favorite toys and snuggle with them … on top of the comforter… underneath Mama’s desk. I get all cuddled up and sleep here. And since I have made myself a nice, comfy desk, my Mama can’t use the comforter without disturbing me. And being the best Mommy in the entire world, she has sacrificed being slightly cold, so that I can have a nice place to snooze. Isn’t she the nicest persons ever?!
And so, I sleep and lay here… With my new doggie – who I got from Santa Paws – and my little birdie friend. Sometimes, my old friend Prince Froggie Froggie makes an appearance, too. Do you remember him? I’ve had him since I was a little puppy.
Are you ready to say, “Awwww?” Here is a blast from the past. It’s a photo of me when I was only 6 weeks old, right after my Mama got me. Aren’t just the cutest little thing you’ve ever seen?! And there is my Prince Froggie Frog, who is still my best friend after all these years… (OK, a year… since I am only a year-and-a-half).
Aren’t Shih Tzu puppies the cutest things ever? Especially black and white ones, but I am bias.
I am pretty darn sad that Christmas is over… Our tree is still up, but probably not for long. I did like all the pretty lights and pawing at the ornaments that sometimes fell off…
Can’t you see how horribly sad I am at the end of the holiday season?
Now… it’s time to go back to sleep, I guess. Bummer.
For all you cat lovers…. I wanted to do a special post for all my feline anipals. If you regularly follow me on Twitter, you have heard me tweet about my cat brother, Mr. Pumpkin. He’s also made an appearance on this blog several times. (When my Mama was writing this blog, she talked about him in Mr. Pumpkin and Gracie’s Diaper Cake Adventures, and he was also in our Christmas photos two years ago (2010).
He is a very beautiful cat – or at least Mama thinks so. He used to be more white a few years ago, but now he’s become very orange. Mostly on his face, parts of his paws and tail. He also has freckles on his nose. Mama tried to rub it once, but it never came off… so we just assume he’s got freckles. He used to be an alley-cat that was abandoned, and the neighbors were feeding him. He wasn’t neutered when Mama decided to adopt (or as Mama’s friend says “cat-napped” him from the streets), but he can no longer make kitty babies with his many cat girlfriends (cuz he is such a handsome fellow). Anyway, he jumped into Mama’s car one day, so she decided to keep him.
Since he has alley cat tendencies, he is now an outside-indoor cat. We tried to keep him inside all the time, but he wouldn’t stay inside. He meowed and meowed at the door, and try to run out every chance he got. He used to pee on Mama’s bed and on this couch (which had to be thrown away), because he was so mad that we were keeping him inside all the time. Mama took him to the vet and was like, What gives? This cat has been fixed. He shouldn’t have these roaming tendencies. The vet gave her meds for a UTI (yes – cats get urinary tract infections, too), but said that some cats just like to “mouse” (like kill mice and birds, and hunt for fun. It’s in their nature, I guess). So, after a year of keeping him inside all the time, Mama gave up and so now he is an indoor and outdoor cats.
Have I ever mentioned that I have quite a large wardrobe of outfits? Seriously, my Mama buys me more clothes than she buys herself… It’s seriously sad, but I guess I don’t mind… Most of the time. But this time, Mama didn’t get me this new dress. Santa Paws put this in my Christmas stocking. Isn’t it pretty?
This black and white polka dotted dress has a little belt around the waist. Makes me look like a Shih Tzu Diva, doesn’t it? I look pretty darn cute, if I have to say so myself.
What I really like about this dress is that it velcros around chest.. so unlike other annoying outfits, Mama doesn’t have to slip it over my head. She just puts my paws through the arm holes and velcrows it on me. Doesn’t hurt, and it’s so easy to put on and take off. The fabric is also very light, so it’s not too hot on me.
Though it’s already winter, we still have fall-like weather here in northern Alabama/southern Tennessee.
Here I am looking up at Mama, wondering why she is snapping my photo once again.
Do you see my little toffers? I have a little characteristic snaggletooth. For some reason, that one tooth always sticks out. On the other side, it stays in my mouth…
****Happy New Year to All my Anipals and Friends! ****
Mommy and I wish everyone a Happy and Blessed 2012!
After all my partying and all those fun festivities…. saying goodbye to 2011… And counting down the big clock to 2012, I was just plain pooped. I was wearing my party dress and everything! It’s a black and white polka dotted dress that Santa Paws got me for Christmas. Isn’t it so stylish? Yup, I am the cutest Shih Tzu puppy around!
Since I got new stuffed animal friends for Christmas, I decided to take a nice, long nap with them. I didn’t even notice when Mama put my new doggie on top of me, and Mr. Penguin next to her… I was just too tired from all that New Years fun! (I’m sleeping on a big frog pillow pet…)
Of course, My Mama had to experiment with her digital camera… It has all these cool functions she never knew about! And she did a little playing with Photoshop, too. Can you tell which photos she edited in Photoshop, and which came straight from the camera? And can you guess which one has the “Fisheye” effect (which is a function on the camera!)?
I think I am pretty darn cute… And pretty photogenic, don’t you agree?
Happy 2012, everyone!
If you enjoyed my Christmas photos… I think you’ll like this one too…
Sometimes, I enjoy putting random things in my mouth. Today, that happens to be a pretty rose. What do you think – Am I the most beautiful flower girl shih tzu you ever did see?
Don’t worry – the Rose didn’t have any thorns. Mama made sure of that. But I think I look adorable.
