A few weeks ago, Mama and I were approached by Mr.Chewy.com – an online pet food store – to review their services. We were excited about this opportunity, since Mr. Chewy sells the special dog food that I eat (Orijen dry dog food). Mr. Chewy offered us a $50 coupon to use on their website in exchange for a review on my blog. Of course, we leaped to the opportunity!
We’ve never bought dog food online. Mama drives to Nashville to pick up Orijen for me. We love this brand of dog food, since it’s grain-free and made with fresh, “fit for human consumption” meats and other ingredients. Many commercial pet stores, like PetCo and PetSmart don’t carry the brand, so we didn’t have a reason NOT to try Mr. Chewy’s offer.
We were disappointed, however, that they were out of stock in the 15.4 lb-bag of Orijen Adult Dry Dog Food that I normally eat. (We just checked and it’s back in stock). So we settled with buying the Orijen Fish Dry Adult Food, and Mama also ordered some yummy treats for me.
On their Website, Mr. Chewy claims to offer Free 1-2 Day Shopping on any order over $49. It’s a pretty good deal for anyone buying lots of pet food and pet products. But the company ships out of Pennsylvania, and since we are located in the Southern USA… we assumed that it would take a few extra days. But we were pleasantly surprised.
Mama placed our order on January 30th (Monday); Mr. Chewy sent us an email January 31 (Tuesday) saying that the product had been shipped. We received our boxes on Thursday (2 days after it left the warehouse). So kudos to Mr. Chewy for being true to their word.
When the boxes arrived, I told my black Labrador brother, Bo, to back off. They were my boxes!
All mine, brother!
Hmm, what do we have here….?
Of course, I had to check out the boxes before we opened them. It was pretty interesting that my dog food and my doggie treats came in two separate boxes. I think it would make more sense for them to come in one box, but we didn’t mind. More fun to open!
When we finally opened the boxes, I was so excited that I jumped right in to see what Mama got me.
I was unimpressed with the dog food… but the dog treats. Oh-my-goodness. I love Bil-Jac snacks. They are my absolutely favorite, and bananas… Yummy! I was so happy!
Mama gave some of the snacks to chew, and man did I enjoy them. Look at my cute toofers.
Thanks Mama! I love you!
And of course, things being all equal, Bo had to have some snacks too. We both really loved them!
So, overall – we would recommend Mr. Chewy to all of our friends. Their service was fast and convenient. They do have a small selection, though, which was disappointing. For example, they don’t sell Acana (which is also produced by the same company that sells Orijen, but Acana dog food has less protein in their food.)
Mr. Chewy only sells dog food, dog snacks, potty pads, cat food, cat food, cat treats, cat litter, and flea and tick meds (which is only Frotnline right now). They don’t have a huge selection right now, but I hope that will change in the future.
The dog food brands that they sell include:
- Blue Buffalo
- Taste of the Wild
- Royal Canin Veterinary Diet
- Stella & Chewy
- Natural Balance
The prices are competitive, similar to what they are any independent pet store. they are a pretty nifty company, and they also have a Live Chat, if you have any questions. You can also call them on the phone 24/7.
We had a good experience with them. Anyway, check them out. I’d love to know your experience with them too.
